WAC 2024 Student Composition Contest

he Wisconsin Alliance for Composers (WAC) is accepting submissions for its 2024 Student Composition Contest. Prizes will include cash awards and live performances at the WAC New Music Festival at UW Whitewater on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

The Wisconsin Alliance for Composers (WAC) is accepting submissions for its New Music Festival to be held at UW Whitewater on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

2023 Student Composition Contest Winners

Announcing the winners of WAC's 2023 Student Composition Contest:

Undergraduate Category

  • First Prize: Eleri Beal, String Quartet No. 1 “and otherwise” (UW Whitewater)
  • Honorable Mention: Ben Campbell, Variegation for alto saxophone and piano (Lawrence University)
  • Honorable Mention: Jason Ford, Stratus for tenor saxophone and electronics (UW Oshkosh)
  • Honorable Mention: Joshua Sheldon, Serpentine for solo cello (UW Oshkosh)

High School Category

  • First Prize: Charlie Plante, Con Mistero for flute (Cedarburg HS)
