June 1, 2010 postmark (posted 2/9/2010) The Wisconsin Alliance for Composers (WAC) seeks submissions for its 2010 student composition contest. One prize of $250.00 will be awarded to the winning composer. Additionally, WAC will arrange for a performance of the winning composition on an upcoming concert. Eligibility/Guidelines: Applicants must be middle school, high school, or undergraduate college students studying full time in Wisconsin. Submitted compositions must be original works for 1-6 instruments with or without electronics. Purely electronic compositions incorporating no live instruments are permitted. Works under 10 minutes in duration are preferred. Prize: The composer of the winning work will receive $250; Additionally, WAC will arrange for a performance of the winning composition at an upcoming WAC event. Submit: Each applicant may submit only one composition. Submit one legible, bound score. If the composition is purely electronic, then a score is not required. Please send a copy of the score, not the original. Submit a CD recording if available (MIDI realizations are acceptable). Submit a cover sheet with your name, email, phone number, mailing address, name of school, and name of composition teacher or private instructor (if applicable). Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like your materials returned. Any materials sent without a self-addressed, stamped envelope will become the property of WAC. Submissions must be mailed. Submissions sent via email will not be accepted. Submissions must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 1st 2010.
